Welcome to the first blog post on my website.
Today feels like the right day to write this because I am finally painting again. After years of both struggles and successes, I have decided that now is the time to pursue my dream and build my art practice from the ground up.
To help you get to know me a little better, I’d like to share some of my story.
I have always been a creative person. As long as I can remember, I have been drawing, painting, and making things. Creativity is as essential to me as breathing. It isn’t just something I do; it’s part of who I am.
Although life has brought its challenges, my creativity never truly disappeared. The only exception was during a period of severe burnout, when I needed time to heal and rediscover myself before I could return to painting.
Now I feel a strong need to take my creativity seriously. Creating art is not only something I love, but something I genuinely need in my life. It gives me purpose, fulfillment, and room to grow.
I have a big plan.
I am reopening my art studio, but this time I am starting completely from scratch. I am treating this as a fresh beginning — a new chapter, a new artist, and new work.
One thing that won’t change is my preference for painting on wood panels. In fact, I make the panels myself. I have never enjoyed painting on canvas; it feels too flexible for the way I work. I love the solid surface of wood, and I enjoy creating every part of the artwork myself, from the panel to the final layer of paint.
My first collection will consist of eight abstract paintings inspired by nature. These works will be created with acrylic paint, texture, and layered surfaces on handmade 60 x 60 cm wood panels. The panels are sturdy yet lightweight, making them suitable for shipping.
I will be documenting the creative process on my YouTube channel and sharing those videos here on the website. At the same time, I will be building an online gallery as each artwork is completed. Original works will also be available through my Etsy shop.
I hope this blog gives you a clear idea of what this website will be about and where this journey is heading.
Thank you for being here. I would love for you to follow along as I build this new chapter, one painting at a time.
With love,
Lillith Alcedo
